GEORGE is a third-generation musician, originally from Dallas,Texas, and a graduate of North Texas State University. He relocated to the Washington, DC area after a tour of duty with the USAF Concert Band and currently makes his living as a woodwind “doubler,” playing various members of the flute, clarinet and saxophone families.
With almost fifty years of experience playing professionally, he can include among his mentors such diverse performers as Jean-Pierre Rampal, Keith Jarrett and Eddie Daniels. He has performed in all of the concert halls and most of the theatres in the Washington area with everything from small jazz groups to the National Symphony Orchestra.
His arranging and orchestration credits include Ford’s Theatre’s production of “The Hot Mikado”, a song cycle for voice and chamber ensemble and several albums with local chanteuse Beverly Cosham.
Their fifth collaboration,
“How Do We Keep The Music Playing?”, has just been released.
George is also Music Director for the Helen Hayes Awards, which recognizes outstanding performers and productions of local and national touring shows. He arranges all the music in addition to conducting the 15-piece band for the show itself.
